Flex-Time Training Options for Demanding Material Handling Environments

At 9:45 a.m. on August 3, 2019, Employee #1, a forty-year-old male employee, was working for a firm that rented equipment for events. He was working as a construction helper on a crew that was erecting a large tent for an outdoor event.

He was operating a powered industrial vehicle to pull a tent cover over a tent frame. The equipment he was operating was a GEHL RS6-34 telescopic material handler.

As he pulled the cover, the material handler began to tip. The employee was struck by the boom and was killed.

EMPLOYEE AVAILABILITY

Forklift and powered industrial truck training can become a challenge for operations with limited employee availability.

Flex-Time training through Employee Forklift Training addresses this problem by assigning an instructor to your site over a period of time.

Flex-Time training enables organizations to release employees for training as production demands and staff scheduling permits.

Are you only able to break two employees away at a time for training?  Traditional training providers require minimum class attendance for their scheduled classes which puts a strain on staff scheduling and production.

HOW CAN WE

DO THIS?

The Flex-Time training option allows you to break employees off for training in groups more suitable to your scheduling demands.

Send three employees to one class, two employees to the next class, 5 employees to the next class, and one employee to the final class.  We train your employees over a period of time.

Our Flex-Time option allows your managers and supervisors to flex people in and out of training based on production demands.

It's their responsibility to ensure all employees are scheduled to attend the training within the scheduled block of time.

YOU DECIDE

If you need to train on the sit-down forklift first and then switch to the order picker and then the electric pallet jack and over to the stand-up forklift, that's OK, that's what the Flex-Time program allows you to do.

We add a small flat rate fee to the total course training quote.  This helps to cover the instructor's time throughout the scheduled block.  Call us at 1-800-277-2267 for additional information on the Flex-Time program.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

To ensure your forklift Flex-Time training program goes off without a hitch, our team will coordinate with you to ensure a comprehensive plan is developed so that critical training details aren't missed.

The goal is to ensure your facility has the greatest level of flexibility associated with your training.  We know that production demands are continuously in flux, staffing shortages, limited equipment availability, etc.

With Flex-Time, you determine how many employees you send and when they're sent over the course of your contracted training time.

This eliminates the need to pull equipment operators off the floor where they are delivering value to the customer.  Training, while critical, delivers no value and is thus a cost center that needs to be minimized to the greatest extent possible.
