OPERATOR TRAINING
Employee Forklift Training is proud to offer a variety of training programs for our clients. Your business relies on operators who can drive their fork trucks, reach trucks, walkie riders, and more in a safe, efficient manner.
One key factor in our training programs is ensuring our clients save money by not paying for training time or staff time by tailoring the training to meet your needs and operations.
Whether it's new powered industrial truck/forklift operator training, re-certifying currently licensed operators, or training a group of new and re-certification employees. Do not waste money on time or training that is not required or necessary.
NON-OPERATOR TRAINING
A frequent question we hear from clients is, "Where's the value in training non-operators"? The answer is quite simple, everyone is responsible for safety. The challenge comes when employees workaround and interact with powered industrial trucks.
Many employee have no experience working around fork trucks and lift equipment. So, they are unaware of obstructions to visibility, turning from the rear, turn radius, load obstructions, operators not driving safely ad more.
Employee turnover is also a frequent challenge as employees come and go their institutional knowledge of woring around equipment is lost.
Another challenge is the ineffective leadership response to unsafe acts or activities they witness. The tendency to look the other way is powerful with tight, demanding production demands and schedules.
Proper staff training is an important core component of any workplace safety program for powered industrial fork trucks.

Now, it's not all business! We firmly believe that proactive programs go a long way to driving safety. That's why we offer a variety of workplace safety rodeos. These events are designed to test and challenge operator skills and determine who the winners of the competition are for some friendly bragging rights.
FORKLIFT AND POWERED INDUSTRIAL TRUCK TRAINING PRICING: The True Cost of Safety and Value
How Much Is Forklift Training Really Worth?
As a National Safety Manager, I hear this question often: “How much is forklift training?” or “What’s the cost of powered industrial truck certification?” These are fair questions — budgets matter, and HR and production managers must justify every line item. But here’s the truth: when it comes to forklift and powered industrial truck training, the real cost isn’t in the training fee — it’s in the accidents, injuries, compliance citations, and downtime that happen when operators aren’t properly trained.
At Employee Forklift Training, our mission is to provide OSHA-compliant, thorough, and effective training that doesn’t just check a box — it saves lives, protects property, and drives efficiency in your operation. That’s a value you can’t put a price tag on.
Why "Cheap and Fast" Training Misses the Mark
We know what’s out there. You’ve seen the “quick online course” for $49.95. You’ve probably even heard of in-person classes that take no more than an hour. The problem?
-
They don’t meet OSHA requirements. OSHA (29 CFR 1910.178) is crystal clear: training must include formal instruction, practical hands-on training, and an evaluation of performance. A one-hour lecture or online slideshow isn’t enough.
-
They don’t prepare operators for real hazards. Every facility is unique. Warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers all have specific layouts, surfaces, traffic patterns, and hazards. Cookie-cutter training misses those site-specific needs.
-
They put you at risk. When an accident happens (and with forklifts, they do), OSHA will ask to see your operator certifications. If the training doesn’t meet the standard, the employer — not the trainer — is on the hook.
The cost of non-compliance is steep: OSHA penalties can reach tens of thousands of dollars per violation. Add in workers’ compensation claims, equipment damage, downtime, and reputational loss, and you’ll quickly see that the cheap training option is actually the most expensive choice you could make.
The True Value of Employee Forklift Training
So, how much is real forklift training worth? Let’s look at the value we deliver:
1. Comprehensive Coverage
We don’t stop at forklifts. Our training includes:
-
Sit-down counterbalanced forklifts
-
Stand-up reach trucks
-
Walkie riders and powered pallet jacks
-
Order pickers
-
Turret trucks
-
Scissor lifts
-
Boom lifts and aerial platforms
Each equipment type comes with its own hazards, handling requirements, and safe-operation practices. We ensure your employees are trained to operate the exact equipment they’ll be using.
2. Hands-On, Real-World Training
Your operators won’t just sit in a classroom. They’ll practice inspections, maneuvering, lifting, stacking, and hazard recognition under the supervision of an experienced instructor. That means when they’re certified, they’re genuinely competent — not just holding a piece of paper.
3. OSHA-Compliant Certification
Every operator leaves with documentation that satisfies OSHA standards. That’s peace of mind for your HR and safety records.
4. Customized for Your Facility
We train on your site, using your equipment, in your environment. This ensures the training addresses your unique risks and operational needs.
5. Reduced Incidents, Lower Costs
Here’s the part that managers and supervisors will appreciate: well-trained operators reduce accidents, which lowers your workers’ compensation costs, protects your Experience Modification Rate (EMR), and keeps your insurance premiums manageable.
Cost vs. Value: What Employers Need to Consider
When you’re evaluating the cost of forklift training, think beyond the initial invoice. Consider these comparisons:
$125/Person (For example) to receive proper instruction versus:
OSHA fines ($15,000+ per violation), workers’ comp claim ($50,000+ average), equipment damage, downtime, market share, lawsuits, settlements, damaged raw materials and finished goods, etc.
That’s why the real question isn’t “how much is forklift training?” — it’s “how much will it cost us if we don’t train correctly?”
Why Safety, HR, and Production Managers Choose Us
When you schedule training with Employee Forklift Training, you’re not just buying a class. You’re investing in:
-
Compliance confidence – You can prove to OSHA that your training program meets the standard.
-
Employee morale – Workers see that you care about their safety, not just productivity.
-
Managerial peace of mind – HR and production supervisors can trust that operators are competent and ready.
-
Long-term savings – Fewer accidents mean fewer costs, period.
The Real Answer to "How Much Is Forklift Training?"
The cost varies depending on the number of employees, the type of equipment, and the level of customization needed. But here’s what doesn’t change: you’ll always get the most value for your investment with Employee Forklift Training.
We don’t cut corners. We don’t rush through critical topics. We don’t hand out certifications to anyone who hasn’t proven their competence. What we do is provide thorough, professional, and OSHA-compliant training that pays for itself many times over.
What’s Included in Our Training Programs
Here’s a breakdown of what every class typically includes:
-
Formal Instruction – Classroom or online-assisted learning covering regulations, hazards, and safe practices.
-
Practical Training – Hands-on operation of forklifts, scissor lifts, reach trucks, and more.
-
Evaluation – An instructor observes and evaluates performance to ensure competence.
-
Certification – Documentation that satisfies OSHA requirements.
-
Recordkeeping Guidance – Support for HR and safety teams to properly document certifications.
This structured approach guarantees compliance and operator safety — something a “quick course” simply can’t deliver.
The Hidden Costs of Inadequate Training
Still wondering how much proper forklift training is compared to the alternatives? Let’s look at what happens when operators aren’t trained correctly:
-
Medical Costs – The average serious forklift accident can result in tens of thousands in medical bills.
-
Lost Productivity – A damaged forklift or injured operator can shut down operations for hours, even days.
-
Legal Liability – OSHA fines, lawsuits, and settlements can have a devastating financial impact on a business.
-
Employee Turnover – Workers tend not to stay long in unsafe environments. Replacing them costs time and money.
By investing in proper training, you avoid all of these costs and gain safer, more productive operations.
A Word to HR and Safety Leaders
If you’re an HR professional or safety manager, you know that compliance isn’t optional. Regulators, insurance companies, and even your own employees expect and deserve a safe workplace. The cost of doing it right the first time is always less than the cost of cutting corners.
